Set up selling offline
The owner allows selling offline in Configuration Studio, then a manager enables each till device while online, so it keeps selling for cash when the connection drops.
If your shop's connection drops now and then, a till device can keep selling for cash without it and send the sales to Sahab when the connection is back. It takes two steps: the owner allows selling offline in Configuration Studio, then a manager enables each device while it is online.
Before you start
- Changing the setting needs the Change company settings permission, which the owner has.
- A Manager or the Owner enables the device, or anyone with Manage registers at the register's branch.
- Record the company's tax decision first. Sahab does not save the offline setting before it, because the device works out tax from the prices and tax codes stored on it.
- Offline sales are for a Walk-in only. If the company requires a customer on every sale at a register, that register's device does not sell offline.
Allow selling offline
- Open Workspace → Configuration Studio and pick the Selling offline topic.
- Under Selling offline at the till, choose Allow on enrolled tills. The default is Do not allow (recommended until you need it).
- Check the other three settings, explained below these steps.
- Press Save topic.
- How long a till may sell offline (hours): counted from the last time the device downloaded prices while online. The default is 24 hours, and you can pick 1 to 72. After that, the device stops selling offline until it connects again.
- Most an offline till may hold before it syncs (amount): the default is 0, meaning no limit; Sahab does not pick one for you. If you enter an amount, the device stops selling offline once its sales that have not reached Sahab add up to it.
- Closing a shift with sales waiting to sync: the default is Sync first (recommended), so the device cannot close its shift until all its sales have arrived. If you choose Allow, the shift closes, and whatever arrives afterwards goes to whoever reviews drawer differences.
To allow selling offline at one branch or register only, keep the company value at Do not allow (recommended until you need it), press Add exception under the setting, and pick the branch or register in Applies to. The same way, you can give one register a different window or limit.
Enable a till device
Each browser on each register is enabled once, while online.
- On the device that sells, sign in with an account allowed to enable it, open Overview → Point of sale, and pick the register.
- This register can sell offline shows at the top of the screen.
- Sahab fills Device name with the register's name. Change it to a name you recognise the device by, if you like.
- Press Enable this device. The device downloads the item prices and tax codes, and refreshes them whenever it is online.
From then on, cashiers sell on it under their own accounts as usual. To sell from another browser or on another register, enable that one the same way. If the offer to enable does not show, check that selling offline is allowed for this register and that the device is online.
Note: If The browser may clear this device’s storage under pressure — sync offline sales soon. shows, the browser has not promised to keep the device's data. Sync sales as you go, and never clear browser data on a till device.
What's next
- Sell offline — what the cashier does when the connection drops.
- Review offline sales — sales that need a look after they arrive.
- Configuration Studio — exceptions for a branch or register.
