Configuration Studio

Under Workspace → Configuration Studio you decide how your shop works: every setting starts from a safe default, and you change only what you do differently.

Configuration Studio is where you decide how your company works day to day: whether a sale needs a customer, who approves an expense, how the cash drawer is closed. Every setting starts from a safe default, so you change only what you do differently. A change applies to new sales and new work, and never alters what's already done.

Before you start

  • Anyone with the Change company settings permission opens the Studio and changes its settings; the owner has it, and can give it to others through a role.
  • You don't need to set everything before selling; Sahab works on the defaults. The exception is the tax decision: record it first, or Sahab refuses sales and purchases.

Topics and settings

  1. Open Workspace → Configuration Studio.
  2. Under Topics, pick a topic such as How we sell, How we close cash, Expenses & advances or Tax. Or type a word in the search box at the top of the page.
  3. Under each setting, read what it decides, its default, and what is In effect now.

A badge next to each setting says where its value comes from:

  • Sahab default: the company hasn't changed it.
  • Company choice: the company changed it.
  • Exception: a different value for a branch, location, register or role.

When a topic says All on defaults, nothing in it has been changed yet.

Settings that need your decision

Some values Sahab never picks for you, because they belong to your company or its country, such as whether the company is registered for tax. They show No default — your company must decide and a Not configured yet badge. A notice at the top of the Studio counts them; press Review to go to the first one. Record the tax decision before your first sale; Sahab refuses sales and purchases until you do.

Change a setting

  1. Open the topic and change the setting's value.
  2. Press Save topic. Or press Discard to drop your changes without saving.
  3. If Sahab asks you to confirm a change with a large effect, read the warning, tick I understand — change it anyway, then save.

To go back to the default value, press Reset to default next to the setting.

Note: Each save creates a new version of the settings. Sales and installment transactions keep the version they were made under, so later changes don't alter them. Version history shows what changed and who changed it.

An exception for a branch or register

The company's value applies everywhere unless you add an exception.

  1. Save the topic first, then press Add exception under Exceptions below the setting.
  2. Pick Applies to, then Which one, then the Value, and press Save exception.

When two exceptions clash, the more specific one wins: register, then location, then role, then branch. To block every exception, press Lock company value, and the company's value applies everywhere.

Tip: Start with the topics that touch money every day, such as How we close cash and Expenses & advances, and leave the rest on defaults until you need to change them.
