Split payments, customer credit and vouchers
Split a receipt across more than one tender, or pay part of it from the customer's credit or with a voucher.
A customer may pay one receipt in more than one way: part cash and part card, for example. The customer may also have credit with the company, or carry a voucher from an earlier return. All of this happens in the till's Payment step.
Before you start
- Split payment shows if the owner allows it in Configuration Studio → How we take payment → Split payment. It is allowed unless someone changed it.
- Customer credit belongs to a customer on file, so choose the customer first. A voucher can be used by whoever holds its code.
Split a receipt across tenders
- After Continue to payment, press Split payment next to the tenders.
- On the first row, choose the tender and type the Amount on this tender.
- Press Add tender and choose the second row's tender. The Rest button inside the amount field puts whatever is left of the receipt on that row.
- On the cash row, enter the Amount tendered by the customer, and the Change due appears.
- Watch Allocated under the rows. Once it covers the receipt, Fully paid shows.
- Press Complete sale.
A receipt takes up to four tenders, with only one cash row. Each row's money goes to the account its tender settles to, shown at Settles to.
If the rows add up to less than the receipt, Remaining on account shows and the difference stays on the customer's account. That needs a customer on file and a company that allows selling on account. If the rows add up to more, Over allocated shows and the sale cannot complete until you fix it. To go back to one tender, press Single tender.
Customer credit
- Choose the customer above the cart. Without one, the panel says Choose a customer to use their credit.
- In the Payment step, press Customer credit and vouchers.
- The customer's available credit shows. Press Use customer credit; Sahab takes the smaller of the credit and what is left of the receipt.
- Pay what is Left to pay with a normal tender, then press Complete sale.
Vouchers
- In Customer credit and vouchers, type the Voucher code and press Check.
- Sahab shows the voucher number, what remains on it and its expiry date, if it has one.
- Change the Amount to use if you want only part of the voucher. If Must be used in full. shows, the amount is fixed.
- Press Add. The voucher joins the list; to take it off, press Remove.
- Pay what is Left to pay, if anything, then press Complete sale.
Note: Customer credit and vouchers are not cash: nothing from them goes into the drawer, and they cannot pay off an earlier on-account balance. Anyone holding a voucher's code can use it, while customer credit can only be used for that customer.
