Cash and bank accounts

Finance → Accounts shows where the company's money is and what each cash box, bank and wallet holds; add accounts and open any account's statement there.

Who this is for: Owner Manager Accountant
Last reviewed:

Every place that holds the company's money has an account in Sahab: the cash account, the bank account and the e-wallet. Open Finance → Accounts to see what each one holds right now, add a new account, or check an account's movements for a period.

Before you start

  • Owners and managers can open this page, and so can anyone given a role with the Manage finance permission, such as the Accountant template.
  • Don't enter the money you had on the day you started with Sahab here. That money comes in through Opening balances under Finance.

What the page shows

Four figures sit at the top:

  • Cash position: what the cash boxes, banks and wallets hold together, one line per currency.
  • Total receivables: what others owe the company.
  • Purchase payables: what the company still owes its suppliers. Tap it to open the unpaid supplier bills.
  • Net position: cash plus receivables, minus purchase payables. When currencies differ it shows a dash instead.

Below them are two tables. Liquid accounts lists cash, bank and wallet accounts; Control accounts lists receivable, equity and cash-in-transit accounts. A badge next to an account's name marks the default account for its type.

Add an account

  1. Open Finance → Accounts and press New account.
  2. Type the Name your team knows it by, such as the main cash box or the bank's name.
  3. Pick the Type: Cash, Bank or Wallet for accounts that money comes into and goes out of.
  4. If the company uses foreign currencies, pick the Currency.
  5. If Sahab should preselect this account when money comes in that way, tick Set as default for this account type.
  6. For a bank account, enter the IBAN if you like. It's optional.
  7. Press Save. Sahab opens the new account's page.

If the company has more than one branch, a branch field appears too. Leave it shared when every branch uses the account.

Note: Leave Opening balance at zero until the cutover to Sahab is committed under Opening balances; Sahab refuses an opening balance before then. Once any month is closed, the opening balance can't change; record money that arrives later as an income or an adjustment.

Account statement

  1. Tap the account's name in the table.
  2. Pick the dates in From and To, then press Apply.
  3. Read the four figures: Opening, In, Out and Closing.

Below them, every movement is listed with its date, reference and source, and the balance after it.

Edit or stop using an account

  1. In the account's row, press Edit account.
  2. Change what you need, or untick Active to stop using an account.
  3. Press Save.

Tip: An inactive account isn't deleted, so its past movements stay in statements and reports.
