Collect an installment
Open the due from Installment dues and press Collect, or press Collect on transaction on the transaction's page, then enter the amount and payment method and press Record collection.
When a customer pays an installment, record the money against that due or against the whole transaction. The amount goes into the account you received it in, and what the customer owes drops straight away.
Before you start
- An Owner, a Manager or anyone with the Installments clerk role can collect from these screens.
- A cashier without installments access (Cashier) records the money with a customer receipt, and Sahab spreads it over their dues. See Follow and collect customer receivables.
- You collect with the payment methods your company has turned on, such as Cash, Card and Transfer. An installment can't be collected on account.
Collect one installment
- Go to Installments → Installment dues. The page opens on Due today; choose Overdue for dues that are past their date.
- Press Collect on the due's row. The due's page opens.
- Press Collect. The Collect installment window opens.
- In Amount to collect, press Remaining if the customer is paying the whole due, or enter what they actually paid.
- Pick the Payment method. Sahab picks the matching account; if the company has more than one, choose it in Receiving account.
- If you pick Cash, the Amount tendered is filled with the collection amount. If the customer handed you more, raise it to see the Change due.
- Check the Payment date. It's today by default; you can go back as many days as your company allows, but never forward.
- Press Record collection.
The due becomes Paid if the amount covered what was left. If some is still owed it becomes Partial, unless it's past its date, in which case it stays Overdue. The collection shows under Collections on the due's page.
You reach the same window from the transaction's page: on the Schedule tab, press Collect on the due's row. A Down payment row is collected the same way if part of it is still open.
Note: If you pick an earlier date and the receiving account is a cash account, Sahab asks you Where is this cash now? Choose In today's drawer if you have the money now, or It was in that day's drawer (late correction) if it already went into that day's drawer.
Collect on the whole transaction
Use this when the customer pays an amount that covers more than one due.
- Open the transaction from Installment transactions, or press its reference in the Transaction column of Installment dues.
- Press Collect on transaction.
- Enter the amount. The window shows how it's spread: Applied by due date (earliest first), filling each due before the next.
- Complete the Payment method and Payment date as for a single due, then press Record collection.
If your company set an early-settlement rebate, the option Settle everything early with the early-settlement rebate appears. Choose it if the customer wants to close the whole transaction now, and check the amount next to The customer pays.
Tip: Every collection is listed on the transaction's Collections tab with its date, account and amount. Go there when a customer asks what they've paid.

- Reverse a collection or cancel a transaction — if you recorded a collection by mistake.
- Follow and collect customer receivables — everything a customer owes, installments and on-account sales.
