Who approves what
Decide under Configuration Studio → Who approves what who approves expenses, payroll and drawer differences, and check the Self-approval log and the Workflows approval paths.
In Sahab an expense, a payroll run or a drawer difference is approved by someone other than the person who recorded it, while someone else can. The owner's own expenses don't wait for approval. You decide this in Who approves what, and see every self-approval in the Self-approval log.
Before you start
- With the built-in roles, only the owner opens these screens. Who approves what and the log need the Change company settings permission; Workflows needs Design approval workflows.
- Every control is on from the start, so you don't have to set anything up before you start working.
Who approves each document
- Open Workspace → Configuration Studio → Who approves what.
- Read the list of documents, such as Expenses, Payroll runs and Drawer over / short reviews. Each one has a badge:
- Two people: someone other than the person who recorded it approves the document.
- One approver — recorded: only one person can approve, so they approve their own documents.
- No approver: nobody has the approval permission yet.
- Off — recorded: you switched the control off, so the person who recorded a document may approve it.
- Under Approval amounts you see the amount above which an approval is needed, such as Expense approval amount. Every document means every document needs an approval until you enter an amount. Press Change to open the setting in its own topic. An expense the owner records never waits.
- Under Switches, turn a control on or off, such as Expenses: recorder ≠ approver.
- Under Correction approval, choose whose corrections wait for a second person. The default is Everyone except the owner (recommended).
- Press Save topic.
Note: A company with only one approver never gets stuck. That person approves their own documents, and each approval is recorded. To require two people, give the approval permission to a second member in Roles & permissions.
The self-approval log
At the end of the list, the Self-approval log row shows how many entries were recorded in the last 30 days. Press Open the log to see every time someone approved a document they prepared themselves: when, which document, who approved it and at which branch. The Why it was allowed column says why it was allowed, for example Nobody else could approve. To narrow the list, pick from Document type.
Approval paths in Workflows
The Workflows page holds the approval paths for requests that need a decision: Credit approval, Damage disposition, Supplier claim decision and Attendance correction. Each path has approval steps, and a request with no published path goes to its usual approver. Every change is published as a new version that new requests follow, while running requests stay on their own version; Version history lists them all.
Tip: Under Configuration Studio → Workflows, keep Self-approval in sensitive workflows on Never (recommended), so nobody approves their own sensitive request.
What's next
- Approve credit overrides and use the approvals inbox — where approvers decide on requests.
- Add users and grant permissions — give the approval permission to a second person.
- Configuration Studio — the other topics and the version history.
